While this post is written from a mom’s perspective, this one thing can change your life too, no matter what season of life you are in.

As moms we wear many hats, we are the chef, the referee, the chauffeur, the problem solver, and we seem to be the only one that knows where the missing things have gone.

We have to juggle a lot of things, and sometimes all at once. But when I started incorporating this one thing in my day, it began to run smoother.

What is this thing I speak of?!?

PRAYER, YES PRAYER AND IT CHANGED EVERYTHING!!!

After I began to incorporate prayer (and when I say prayer, I mean intentional prayer). I began to surrender control and open myself to the day GOD had for me, and not the day I already had planned out for myself.

4 REASONS EVERY MOM SHOULD PRAY DAILY

After I saw how my day ran, being an intentional praying mama, I knew I had to share it with other moms that may be struggling just like me.

This tip can be the difference between you running around the house stressed, frustrated, and not living your best mom life, and being the much happier and calm mama you always wanted to be.

You’ll begin to enjoy the small things and not worry so much about the loads of laundry that need to be caught up on.

GIVE YOUR DAY TO GOD BEFORE YOU GET MOVING

Prayer is the perfect opportunity for you to be still. Literally, “be still”.

Open yourself to hearing from GOD, lay it all (the to-do list, the stress, the anxiety) at His feet and allow Him to give you strategy to conquer the day and put you in the right mind frame to handle anything and everything.

I like to do this first thing in the morning. As soon as I wake up, I thank GOD for allowing me to see a new day and I pray.

I try to do this before I wake the kids up for school, so it can just be HIM and I. The house is quiet, and I’m able to bow before Him, talk to Him, and most importantly “be still and listen”.

“Be still and know that I am GOD! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” -Psalm 46:10

TIME TO REFLECT

During prayer, whether it be your morning prayer, or a random prayer in the middle of the afternoon you should take time and reflect on what GOD has already done for you and your family.

You do this intentionally, not only to thank him, but to remind yourself of who GOD is, and all the miracles he has already performed in your life.

When the struggles of the day try to rear their ugly heads, you have a firm foundation to stand on.

Our Father delivered you before, and He can do it again.

BE A BETTER YOU

Spending time with GOD will ultimately bring you closer to yourself.

As moms we have all experienced some form of mom guilt.

“I should have played with the kids, instead of doing housework”

“Am I showing more attention to one child over the other?”

“I lost my temper, I shouldn’t have yelled.”

We all go through it and this is the perfect time to incorporate prayer.

Pray that GOD gives you insight and strategy to help you through the mom guilt.

Sometimes I feel like I’m not enough.

Like I’m not doing enough, or even getting enough done.

My kids need more time with me, my husband needs more time with me, I need more time with me.

I get frustrated and defeat tries to set in….

But in those moments, I know I can come before GOD in prayer, broken and frustrated, and He sees me.

I can find peace in Him in that very moment.

I can walk away from that prayer knowing that I’m a work in progress and GOD has given me grace and mercy to be a better me.

Allow GOD to mold you into all that he has called you to be, in every area of your life, especially motherhood.

LEAD BY EXAMPLE

One of the greatest gifts we can give our children are examples.

Examples on what to do, what not to do, or how to do something.

Think about it, when your child has math homework and they don’t understand it, they come and ask for your help (hopefully you understand it, math isn’t my strongest subject).

You go through the problem and show them how to work it out to get the correct answer.

You do this not only so they have understanding, but so they also have an example to follow to help them solve other problems in the future.

The same thing applies with prayer.

When they see their mama praying they may ask about it and ask how to do it. Use this as an opportunity to set an example that will help them solve the problems of the future.

You can teach them from a young age to run to prayer, so when they are older they already have a strong prayer life to stand on.

All because you led by example (pat yourself on the back mama).

Your child is watching you and imitating you whether you notice it or not.

So what example will you show them about prayer?

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” -Proverbs 22:6

TAKE ACTION

Prayer doesn’t have to be long and drawn out using words you can barely pronounce, talk to God like you talk to everyone, he wants to hear your voice.

“Lord this has been a long day and I’m didn’t get much done, but I still thank you for the smile on my child’s face when we had one-on-one time with each other, thank you for making room for that”

Your prayer doesn’t have to look or sound like anyone else, it just needs to be genuine and heart felt.

If you need somewhere to start, begin with saying this prayer daily and see how smoother your day runs when you surrender control to God.

PRAYER STARTER:

FATHER,

I THANK YOU FOR THIS TIME WITH YOU.

I THANK YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE AND WHO YOU ARE MOLDING ME TO BE.

I SURRENDER MYSELF.

I EXHALE FEAR, FRUSTRATION, GUILT, AND ANXIETY.

I INHALE YOUR PEACE, LOVE, JOY, AND FAVOR OVER MY DAY.

IN JESUS NAME AMEN.
